General Accountability and Summary

This role will appeal to a collaborative individual having 2-4 years of underground site-based project development experience at a mine site in the interior of California.  The individual will be motivated to play a role in taking responsibility for capital project development including all areas of planning, budgeting, and execution.  Regular travel to the mine site will be required to execute the work required by this mandate.  Accommodations (in town), vehicle, and per-diem allowance will be provided, with travel expenses reimbursed at cost or booked on behalf of the successful candidate.

 

The role is a one-year fixed term contract, subject to future renewals.  At the completion of the site assignment, the successful candidate may also be offered full-time employment based in our Western United States Office.

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate preparation and delivery of project deliverables, design documents, as built drawings, turnover documents, etc.
  • Coordinate and expedite engineering milestones/deliverables to support engineering/construction activities.
  • Maintain active involvement in collecting and implementing constructability input from various parties on the project.
  • Support the development of schedules for sustaining capital site-based projects.
  • Coordinate activities relating to technical developments, scheduling and resolving engineering design and test problems.
  • Interfaces with customers to provide project status reports and ensure customer needs are met.
  • Expedite contractor deliverables and adherence to the schedule.
  • Oversee and coordinate the hours and scope for changes and report to the Project Controller.
  • Develop formal engineering work packages (EWP) to correspond to the established construction work packages (CWP).
  • Following up on action items with responsible personnel to ensure that items are closed out completely and on time.
  • Active involvement in quality assurance with regards to understating and implementing policies and procedures, such as third party quantity surveying, and non-destructive testing.
  • Participation in the overall procurement process, including scope definition, specification preparation, datasheet population, tender evaluation and recommendation, contract award, kick-off meetings, and expediting both internal and external parties in order to meet the schedule requirements for various equipment packages.
  • Follow-up with vendor representatives to verify that all technical documentation required for fabrication and shipment are submitted and reviewed in accordance with the project schedule.
  • Preparation of minutes of meeting for various project meetings and following up on action items with responsible personnel to ensure that items are closed out completely and on time.
  • Regular travel to mine sites to meet with project stakeholders and/or long-term site assignments for construction and commissioning engagements will be required.
  • Coordinate with the Owner Operations personnel for project feedback and execution support.
  • Support one or more TMG Project Managers in a variety of project needs as required.
  • Support TMG Corporate Business Development, Marketing, and/or Administrative tasks as required.
  • Promote and demonstrate both TMG and client values at all times
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Experience, Qualifications & Education

  • University degree in a relevant engineering field (Mining Engineer Strongly Preferred).
  • Past experience (full-time employment or co-op program) working underground at an operating mining operation strongly preferred.
  • 2+ Years of underground mining experience
  • Demonstrated knowledge of MSHA underground rules and regulations 
  • Ability to obtain a Professional Engineering designation required.
  • Experience directing internal and external teams involved in multiple activities would be an asset.
  • Experience in technical writing or document management would be an asset.
  • Experience in database setup and management would be an asset.
  • Legally allowed to work in the state of California.

  • Compensation: Base salary, benefits, bonus, 401k matching. Site-based rotation assignment conditions may also allow for uplift, per-diem, living allowance, and/or completion bonus.
