General Accountability and Summary 

The Civil & Structural Superintendent is responsible for field execution of all earthworks, concrete, and structural steel scopes. Reporting to the TMG Project Manager and coordinating with EPCM engineers, the Superintendent will oversee construction activities across both Mill and Tailings Storage Facility (TSF) areas. The role ensures safe, timely, and quality-controlled delivery of critical foundations, superstructures, and site infrastructure, acting as the Owner’s primary representative for civil and structural trades. 

This position is instrumental in ensuring construction readiness and field delivery milestones are met in line with project safety, cost, and schedule objectives. 

Key Responsibilities 

  • Lead day-to-day supervision of all civil and structural works across Mill and TSF scopes 
  • Review drawings, specifications, and work packages for constructability and compliance 
  • Coordinate site preparation, excavation, concrete formwork and placement, and steel erection 
  • Monitor contractor progress against workfront schedules and escalate risks proactively 
  • Ensure field QA/QC, safety protocols, and environmental controls are adhered to 
  • Support interface coordination with mechanical, electrical, and piping disciplines 
  • Lead or participate in inspections, punch list walkdowns, and turnover documentation 
  • Act as Owner’s field liaison with civil contractors and engineering consultants 
  • Following up on action items with responsible personnel to ensure that items are closed out completely and on time. 
  • Willing to work under tight deadlines and maintain exceptional judgment and discretion regarding sensitive matters 
  • Plan and manage internal and external project communications, ensuring effective exchange of project information and deliverables and identify, analyze, prioritize, mitigate and communicate project risks.

Skills & Competencies 

Technical Skills: 

  • Expert in structural steel, concrete, earthworks, and excavation best practices 
  • Skilled in interpreting structural/civil drawings, geotechnical recommendations, and survey controls 
  • Familiarity with site logistics, contractor performance management, and QA/QC protocols 

Leadership Competencies: 

  • Safety-focused field leader who builds rapport with contractors and engineering teams 
  • Able to anticipate construction challenges and resolve issues in real time 
  • Excellent communicator, capable of representing Owner interests at site 

Experience, Qualifications & Education 

  • Minimum 10 years of site-based construction experience in civil/structural scopes. 
  • Prior experience on mining, mineral processing, or heavy industrial projects preferred. 
  • Technical diploma or equivalent in Civil Engineering or Construction Management. 
  • OSHA/MSHA certification or eligibility preferred 
  • Experience in database or document control software would be an asset. 
  • Previous experience acting as an Owner’s representative would be an asset.
